In July 1995, she, her mother and younger brother were forcibly transported from Potocari to ARBiH-controlled territory. She was only eight years old. Her father, two uncles and numerous relatives were killed in the genocide in Srebrenica. Father Bešir Ademović was buried in 2012, uncle Mehmed Suljić was buried in 2010, and the remains of her uncle Hazim Ademović are still being searched for. Today, Šefika Đozić works at the Srebrenica Memorial Center as a public relations officer, and she has a law degree. She lives in Srebrenica with her husband and two children. "It is important to me that we, the survivors, give our contribution and talk about how all others, but also future generations, can learn a lesson and give their contribution so that the genocide committed in Srebrenica is not forgotten and repeated."
